The news media began speculating yesterday that Don Rumsfeld may throw his hat in the ring, but I can't see that going very far. Hillary will definitely run, but I honestly think that outside the few ultra-liberal states like New York and California, she will have a real hard time connecting with voters. The DNC knows it too, and they will try to find a more moderate, less bipartisan candidate. As much as some have accused the Republicans of partisanship in the last few years, the Democrats have their guilty as well, and Billary is one of them (along with her friends Polosi (sp?), Reid, Dean, and a slew of others).

I wish Condy Rice would run, but I can't imagine she really wants the job. I think she will find more fulfilling ways of spending her time come 2009. I bet she goes back to teaching.

McCain won't go anywhere in 2008 either. He's bured too many of his bridges in DC and won't get the party's support unless they just can't find anyone better. Giuliani will probably run, but it remains to be seen if he can endure the long hard road of a campaign for national office. He had to drop out of the Senate race a few years ago for health reasons.

Really, neither party has a real winner that will want to run and has any hope of bringing home the prize in a Reagan-esque fashion. Neither party is going to get a mandate from the people, and regardless of who wins, we'll still be hearing them blame each other for partisan politics in the near future. It is early yet to really generate any useful speculation. I think everyone is still waiting to see what happens next week before they start declaring intentions. This will likely be another close race.

If it's simply a 2 party race I think I can sum this up. It will be Mrs. Clinton against either McCain or Romney. The republican will win. Too many people despise the Clinton name. Bill is simply too much baggage for Hillary to pull around. On the other hand, beware of a dark horse 3rd party candidate. If someone ran on a one issue platform, like immigration, the political climate is right for success. That would destroy the Republican candidate's chances.

I think it will be Obama vs. Macaca (George Allen, former governor and current US Senator for Virginia). Macaca will win. The Democrats don't have a candidate that brings their party together, so they'll put up an African American so if he loses, they can continue calling Republicans "racists."

Mrs. Bill Clinton would be the best thing for the Republican Party--it
would guarantee a landslide victory for whoever the GOP puts up against her.

The Dems really screwed it up in Mass. Lieberman's going to be re-elected by a huge margin (as an Independant), and he's not going to forget how his party sleighted him. It's a shame, because Joe is the only Democrat that actually would draw votes away from the GOP, which would cinch a win in the next Presidential election.

I am hoping for some great candidates to come forth from the Democratic Party. I think John Edwards could 'throw his hat' in the ring. Also Hilary Clinton and Barak Obama. I'd like to here what Al Gore has to offer again. If I had to pick who would lead the party though, I think it would be a toss-up between Hilary and Barak for sure!

If Hillary runs and wins, I'm defecting to Canada.

I would like to see Rudy Guiliani (or however you spell his name) on the Republican ticket. If he wins the primary, it won't matter who the Democrats put up, he will win in a landslide!
