Gravitational pull.

One of the beliefs is that the moon is formed of material from the earth from many millions of years ago. The earth was hit by a large object like a nasssive asteriod. The material that was thrown up in the form of rocks etc. was trapped by the earths gravititional pull and formed the sphere we now see as the moon. Saturn also has this but it has formed the rings os saturn and many smaller moons. The moon does not have enough momentum to break free of our gravititationl pull and luckily just enough to stay up there. Cos it comes to visit some day, there is going to be bit of a mess....cheese everywhere and a massive increase in the mouse population......lol

The moon wants to travel in a straight line but gravity prevents this as the moon and the earth attract each other.
The moon is also travelling at just the right speed, any faster and it would leave the gravitational pull that they have and travell off into space, Any slower and the orbit would decay and the moon would eventually crash into the earth.

It looks that way. The moon is actually stationary and, as the earth moves, it seems like the moon goes around the earth.

Because it's in a stable orbit. The moon is not "stationary". It orbits the earth approximately every 29 days.

because of a gravitational pull on it - the same way as the earth and the rest of the solar system are pulled in orbits around the sun

Because the man on the moon is too stubborn to ask for directions.

it is the earth that moves around the moon hence day and night when the earth has turned on the dark side of the moon we say its day light, when it reaches the light side we say its night.
