Have you ever considered that the goverenment uses two highly addictive substances to get tax money from the people that provide most of their needs themselves,ie. the midwest farmer who raises his own meat and veggies and if not for the addiction the government creats he would never pay any other tax then from what he sells.

It's called a "Sin Tax". If you don't do the "sin" you don't pay the tax. Get over it!

Just because they are highly addictive doesn't mean you have to do it. At least it is one tax you can opt out of. If you don't like the tax, don't buy the product.

Dont forget fuel tax.. in australia we pay about 30 cents per litre

ABSOLUTELY!!!! living in Michigan with Jennifer Granholm for Governor , we pay over $5.00 a pack for cigarettes almost $2.00 in taxes alone, now i can understand the non smokers hate for them but don't charge us because of it,,, our state is in such a mess with all the unemployment ,,, we need to get rid of her although the alternative isn't much better,,, our choice Granholm,, we can have a abortion and no smoking in public places or..... DeVoss where we cant have a abortion even in the event of rape or incest,,, and smoke all we want !!! you tell me????

ti's true we are the worse for our addictions but Alas the government must answer to the voter's one day which is not far in the future ask Marlboro country lol
