Human beings are interdependent on every thing on this planet.
With the opposite sex, more so, for biological, and emotional reasons.
The emotional may be a bit subtle though not difficult to understand, and perhaps why the best reason for good bonds and also the easy-to-snap !
Emotions are manifest form of intuition. Intuition is also put to use for creative and imaginative skills. Women are blessed with more of intuitional aspect and men with logical. The combination of the two with good compatibility, recognising the inter-dependence makes an excellent pair. The recognition comes more often to men because the results are discussed in logical form (supported by language, communication etc... in contrast to emotions which require direct perception ).
The needs are balanced well by nature, and like the definition of the game "chess" , the winning of one depends on the error committed by the other !

Well both need each other as much. Both hav their own pluses and minuses, and they both compliment to each other.
Most of the inventions and improvements can be attritibted to men. While the other one is not so good in creativity.
The female sex are emotionally stronger while the other is physically stronger. If u see the trend, lot of people hav started suffering on emotional front and started taking vindictive decision like quitting job, changing field, or even giving / taking life. On all these count, the female is stronger. Genetically also they are superior to men.
Female hav got their strength on linguistic front while men hav their strenght on numerical front.
Females have more flair for better presentation, asthetic and relations while men are more into the end result and materialistic approach.
Female stumbles down when it comes to moving around various un-known places as comfortably, or even taking care of themselves in a gathering, public places or in pub when they are alone, in other word the dare devilry aspect is lacking there.
when it comes to adjustments, not only the females can adjust a lot and make more compromises, but their survival instinct is also more.
All said and done, the fact is that either of them could not hav existed without the other.

Historically, the Male was the Provider and the Woman was the Nurturer. In that scenario, the Woman needed the Man more.
When Women started going out to work and bringing home the Bacon - things changed and many women felt that they could do without the Man.

I think the man needs a woman more. Not only from the sexually aspect but men, grown men, still needs nurturing. They want a woman to be a replacement of their mother. To cook, clean, take care of them when they are ill, etc.
I know some men might disagree, but that is only because there are no women around to do it and they have no other choice than to do it themselves.
Women need men for procreation but apart from that, they need a man less.
But this question is a chicken or egg one because both sides really need each other.

If procreation is the only objective in life then man and woman would always need each other, that is if the scientist does not replace the conventional method.
Other than this man or woman they donot need each other for anything... money , friendship, companionship, love.Looking at the past history and the conventional roles that woman played it did look that woman needed man more . But that is not true anymore.

Nature wants all species evolved to coexist in this world and should reproduce and perpetute.Earlier less evolved froms are bisexual (earth Worm),can store egg &sperm on the same individual.Higher animals viz Mamals including man sexes are seperate.Species of the opposit sexes are attracted to each other not only for sex,but also a constent companion in stress &strain.With out the other the human will not attain complete.The real love and affection to the other sex is sublime, noble attraction.Sex has onlly secondry importance.Come and see the villages in India you will understand .

I think we all need at least one person. The sex of who that might be is determined by your own sexual orientation.
The best sort of relationship is one where you need each other at about the same level.
But since you framed the question about a 'traditional' relationship, I'll answer from what I've observed of 'traditional' people. A man needs a woman to allow him to be tender sometimes. A woman needs a man to feel that there is someone she can turn to who will support her and love for what she is.

it all depends on time and situation. earlier, when technology was at a primitive stage, and as woman was physically less strong than man, she wanted man more. but advancement in science & technology has really empowered woman. technology doesn't make any gender discrimination. a pistol can fire a shot no matter whether it is in the hands of a male or female.
so now the dependency is becoming less and less. and as women were historically more oppressed, i think men now need woman more.

I think they both need each other equally. Yea women might say that they dont need a man but deep down they need that sense of security and would like someone to care about them and make them their all. Likewise with men statistics may say that they just sleep around with women all the time but they too get tired of that trend and would like someone to settle down with. Both men and women want memories they can share with the opposite sex and want the ability to spend quality time with someone they share true feelings. It goes both ways.

In Al Koran, man is a garment of woman and woman is also a garment of man. So it’s evenly equal. In the earth, those nations are most developed where man and woman’s participation ratio is higher.
