pentium. forgoet celeron. celeron is the worst processor. few L2 cache, few cpu commands, slow fpu, so don't use it. pentium is MUCH better then celeron anyway

Pentium processors were very expensive when it first came out. Not everyone was able to afford it. So Hardware manufacturers came out with Celeron. It is more affordable, but it lacks the power that Pentium computers have especially in processing.

If you are budget consious, the question you should ask yourself is, what will i do with my PC? if you are just going to browse the internet, write corresspondences using Word or perhaps create small spreadsheets and powerpoint presentation, a Celeron will do it for you. On the other hand if you would be using resource (memory/cpu) hungry applications like Graphics Editors, Video Encoders, Engineering software or even Hi-Tech games, then you should really opt for a Pentium. The Lastest, if you can afford.

newer celeron processor with D (dual) technology is much more better that the older predecessor. because of the price between newer celeron processor and ordinary Pentium 4 is not much different, user always confuse in making a buying decision. I've tested both processor and personally there's a slight different in term of performance, it's not that obvious. this is of course because of the big different in cache memory, Pentium 4 have double the amount of cache memory compare to celeron. if you are using your PC for clerical work such as typing, ordinary printing, surfing and things like that, celeron can still give you a satisfying performance. for resources hungry software such as photo/video editing, gaming and computer aided design, use Pentium 4. in using high performance or graphic rendering software, you can still feel sluggish in Pentium 4, specially in gaming and multitasking. why not invest in Pentium D for better performance and satisfaction. latest AMD processor can also deliver a great performance overall, specially in gaming experience. the only disadvantage in this processor is the heat and the warranty coverage is not as good as Intel processor. however you can get AMD processor cheaper than Intel but the performance is great, for sure.

pentium 2,4ghz is better, celeron is the worce intel proceser regardless of the 200MHZ what your gaining in procesing speed you will lose in cash memory so the over all that celeron is slower and the 200mhz are not big deal for the person using the computer i know that for sure, plus one thing about celeron from my own expericne its get very slow when it heats.
