Hold on! The Delorean is not a **** car - it's a great car. I have one, and I love it. It's comfortable, reliable (yes), parts are easy to come by (believe it or not) and it's the most fun you can have with your trousers on. OK, it's not fantastically fast (about 110 tops, although the speedo only goes to 85) but then in speed camera days, where can you go fast anymore? To answer your question, acording to Doc Brown (in BTTF) you need a stainless steel car to make a time machine (something about conduction), and there are no other s/s cars in production - so you have to use a Delorean - or a large item of kitchen equipment.

I'd use a transit van so I could bring back loads of Lottery tickets and books on who would win what in the future.

Good that's such a pathetic answer.

I would take Knightrider. Do have to give you a reason this a multifunctional car with Super Pursuit Mode. Plus I think Newton would love to see a Automobile that talks and obeys you.

You don't need a fast car. Just 88 miles per hour, right? I would use a Volvo 900 series, very spacious, lots of safety features.

an e type jaguar
no particular reason for the time machine aspect, I just think it's a stylish car and I've always wanted one :-)

{I think the transit van was a good idea, bring back loads of valuable antiques from the past, and loads of fancy gadgets from the future}

My family's Kia Carnival. It has heaps of space inside and is as comfortable as a plane inside... it has a great stereo, and you can fold down seats to become tables. It's like a home in itself. Perfect even for a very long time travel expedition!

Mini of course, and not the BMW rip off, an original classic...

Small, smart, nippy if I can have the Cooper, and would fit in anywhere between the 60s right upto present...
