I hate animal cruelty-especially testing. Before someone writes 'Why don't we test on you' I'd like to place forward a thought for people...
If a person dies of a disease, it would be a natural death. That person would probably be in the comfort of a fancy hospital or his home, and he would probably have friends and relatives around him when he dies. He would die peacefully. But when an animal dies in a testing lab after it was blatantly used and stuck in a steel, cold cage all day after it had been used so that you could live a few years longer, ask yourself : Which is worse-the person or the animal?

To Wanderer : What the hells your problem? You may not like rats - I don't particulalrly either - but they still have a right to live. I know how many people die - but why do they have to come first? And you better get real - it isn't just rodents. It's dogs, cats, horses, cows, and other large animals too. You should get a life. This may be a little vivid - but how about I take your dog and cut him open in front of you while he's still fully conscious. No? Didn't think so! And I think that's worse than dying because of war. if you hadn't forgotten, it's people who started the damn war, so them dying is their own doing.

I agree.
They say those Children whom torture animals are destined to be serial killers.
So as I see it, the scientist that claim the killing of thousands of animals in the name of science, are nothing more than SERIAL KILLERS.
Just a thought.

Fear of ones death and in particular fear of ones own suffering through the dying experience is what fuels a lot of medical science, and animal testing. In an ideal world there would be no death and suffering but there is, and we find many ways to avoid the harse facts of nature. At the turn of the 19th century, as well as with modern primitive cultures, the average lifespan of homo-sapiens was and is 34. Our lives have not just been increased a few years. So is 50 years of extra life and improved life for that matter worth the lives of millions of rats and other animals? As with any living creature from simple single cell organisms that die each day from the very fact that we walk or take showers, to the complex animals that we eat, we need to appreciate the lives of these animals.
These days we treat death as if it is not natural, and it is not right. However, the rationale makes sense, humans are not natural just in the same way that neatly groomed rows of corn and vegetables are not natural. True we are biological just as say corn and brocolli is, but dont confuse biological with nature. Vacinations, medical interventions, and the fabricated environment in which we live make us un-natural.
The only way out of the selfishness and self preservationist nature of humans is to not procreate and allow humans to continue on this planet. If you have time check out our organization below.

I totally disagree with animal testing, makes my heart hurt when I see stories on the news (of the stories that actually make it to the news, most are kept behind closed doors). Anyway, I also disagree with the punishments given to people who abuse animals in their own homes. )Way too lenient!) Say.. the lady who had 45 cats, indoors, and hasn't given them a fresh litter box in weeks... etc. Makes me sick. Also, people who hurt dogs, puppies, anything really, they should be punished with the same kind of pain they have caused the animals! Sickos!

I think animal testing is terrible. A lot of people don't think of animals in the sense of how they would feel if they were treated that way and that is wrong. Just like stupid people who let their animals starve. How do they do that? Don't they realize how it feels to be hungry?

I disagree with you about our soldiers in the war .THEY DID NOT START THE WAR .THEY DEFEND A COUNTRY THAT THEY LOVE AND THE INNOCENT PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO CARE ABOUT INCLUDING YOU ! It is sad about the animals but sometimes we have to do things that we don't totally agree with. One more thing you talk about these animals dieing in cold steel cages .What about about the soldiers dieing in Iraq .Look at the conditions they are living in and dieing in .

I'd rather die knowing that animals weren't tortured so that I could have a hair conditioner that works slightly better than my old one.
About soldiers, I agree. If they are stupid enough that they really believe that violence is the means for achieving peace, then they will have to go through violence against themselves to achieve peace.
