They do have the best rushing defense in the country (28 y/g) and defense wins championships. The offense has sustained some injuries, Hart is dinged up, Manningham is out the past 3 weeks, Riley is out as is Doug Dutch. Manningham has 9 touchdown catches which is third most in the country and he will have missed 4 straight games. The big playmaker on offense is gone so thats why their scoring is down. How should have Wisconsin beat Michigan? Wisconsin had 12 rushing yards and only 200 yards passing. That is not enough offense to beat Michigan. Wisconsin has only beat 2 teams this year with records over .500. Michigan's philosophy this year is to beat the bad teams methodically, just pound the ball up the middle. That way you avoid injury. The conditions in Ann Arbor against Northwestern was rain and 35 mph winds. Not exactly conditions for a high scoring game. The Penn State game was at Penn St. and it is always a tough environment to play there. Ohio St. lost there last year when OSU was the better team. Drew Tate of Iowa said Michigan's defense is the best they faced all year, and Iowa already played Ohio St. this year. Michigan's schedule is more difficult than Louisville's and West Virginia. Michigan will beat Indiana and losing to Ohio St. does not prove you're overrated. Ohio State will be favored going into the game anyway because it is in Columbus.

I think that the Media etc, needs something to keep things interesting. I think that they think that the Buckeyes are #1, and pump Michigan to keep interest. Since Ohio State wont play the other teams this year, by pumping Michigan, the interest in that game will be heightened. I am a Ohio State Buckeye fan, but being objective, I still feel that the Buckeyes are #1. I don't think that Indiana will beat Michigan. I feel that Michigan is #2, and even after they lose to the Buckeyes, as long as it's close, should remain #2. Losing to the best, only proves that you aren't the best. It doesn't prove where you should rank though. After this week, I will have a better feel for the remaining unbeatens, and if indeed they deserve to be ranked higher than Michigan. As I already stated, I am a huge Buckeye fan, and I wonder why they don't get more ''play. They beat all, and convincingly, yet all that is said is that their opponents had bad games, like The Bucks aren't the reason. Anyway, I think that the media's dislike? for Ohio State leads to the pumping up of Michigan. I should clarify that, the OVER PUMPING UP of Michigan. I think that Michigan is real good. Even though the Bucks seem to get all of the votes, the media still talks forever about #2. I guess that my Bucks are boring. It is almost odd, how they wear down teams and then destroy them. They really have'nt been tested yet. I think Michigan will test them, especially when Manningham? comes back. The ranking is all about show. It will be a huge test for the Bucks and Ranking Michigan #2 will make for great TV.

Any team with the history of a Michigan would be ranked high if they were undefeated at this stage of the game. If Notre Dame were undefeated where do you think they would be but knocking on the Buckeye's doorstep.
Michigan is a not a flashy team although Manningham is their best candidate and one heck of a receiver. What they do have is heart and a gut wrenching defense. Who would you pick above them West Virginia who has played no one of significance.
Prior to the start of the season I had picked Michigan as my sleeper and I also thought they would beat OSU. Now I am not so sure because the Buckeye's team speed on both sides of the ball is so good. But never count Michigan out of this one. This has always been the beauty of college football in that on any given Saturday stuff can happen. Especially when it is such a storied rivalry and the past games played really don't mean that much. I look for a hard fought contest but OSU's speed should prevail as much as I want to see Michigan win and I am an LSU fan but love a good college football game no matter who tees it up.

There clearly isn't that talent this year that there was last year, but who is a true #2? I don't think you can say that Michigan shouldn't be in that position. Once they get manningham back, which should be for the OSU game, I think they could be in for a surprise! USC is and has been WAY over rated! They are going to end the season with at least 3 losses. West Virginia and Louisville are also over rated, who have they played? No one, they are in the Big East! Ohio State in my opinion is a true #1 for this year and it will be very hard to beat them.

Because they are michigan, just like notre dame it doesnt matter how bad of a year they have they will automatically start in the top 25. if indiana woulnt of beat iowa i would say indiana woulnt be michigan but they did beat iowa and they blew out michigan state and have been scoring alot and i agree indiana will get an upset over michigan, and thats why the game is a 230 game on abc cause people no its gonna be a good game. and please people dont even try to compare michigan with ohio state its not even close. ohio state is the # 1 team and michigan is about # 25.

Everybody always says Michigan is overrated. Even when they're winning EVERY game. It's happened this way forever. WHY? Because people are jealous of Michigan and it's storied past. Period. They're undefeated this year. Not many teams are. Do you really need another reason that people think Michigan is good? And don't go on and on about the schedule Michigan has played. You could dissect ANY team's schedule and say "they haven't done anything." All that matters is how many wins you have. And Michigan has them. That's why everyone thinks they're so good.

That's because Michigan is very good. They probably shouldn't be ranked as high as #2, but they are a top 5 team. The reason they don't score a lot is because that's the way they play. Ohio State and Michigan have two completely different kinds of offenses.
Ohio State relies more heavily on passing and they will switch it off halfway regularly with running to balance it out some. This results in drives with not a whole lot of plays and not much time being taken off the clock, which also leads to high scoring games.
Michigan on the other hand is a run and punch it through kind of team. Their drives will last many more plays since they are running short yardage but they will keep moving the chains. Michigan has the big guys to run and punish a defense and with as long as their drives take, they can easily wear a defense out. The long time of possession results in lower scoring games.
Just because Michigan doesn't score as many points as Ohio State doesn't mean they aren't good, it's just a different style of play that leads to fewer possessions and lower scoring games for both teams.
Wisconsin is good. They are probably the 3rd best in the Big Ten, but they aren't better than Michigan.
My pick for the Ohio State vs. Michigan game is Ohio State. They have an incredible offense and a good defense and I think they will find and exploit the holes in Michigan's defense. If Michigan can't match them drive for drive on offense, then they are done and I don't think they can match them drive for drive.
As far as Indiana, they are much better than they have been in the past, they certainly surprised me in the Iowa and MSU games. However Iowa and MSU have performed mediocre in all of the games I've watched them in this year. Indiana tends to play much better in Bloomington. If they play Michigan in Bloomington, they just might have a shot at beating Michigan. However if they are playing in Michigan, Michigan will definitely win. Indiana hasn't had a good team in forever. It's awesome to see what IU's coach has done with his enthusiasm and team spirit. I wish him the best of luck.

Well - its nice to see jealous of the University of Michigan's football team and a real powerhouse does not escape Yahoo! Answers.
Michigan's defense this year has been second to none - that is why they are number two in the ranking - its some concern about their offense that makes then number 2 (that and the fact that many of the voters love to hate Michigan - Michigan is like the Yankees - everyone knows they are among the best if not the best every year - but no one likes to admit it).

michigan is number 2 for a reason. undefeated so far with the 2nd best defense in the country. are they good enough to beat OSU, i doubt it and im a wolverine fan. their offense doesnt overpower anyone but they score enough to win. if they get beat by someone before OSU beats them then fine you can gripe and whine all you want until then they are number 2. deal with it.

The Ohio State Buckeyes just need to take care of business clear up to November 17th, focus on defeating the woolveweenies in a tough game in Ohio Stadium on November 18th, and I believe they will go on to defeat ANY team in the country for the national championship title.
GO BUCKEYES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
