Maybe you're generalizing and maybe there's truth in your observation. As a woman, I've been both terribly hurt by a breakup (doing the deed and having been done by it) and I've had to unintentionally hurt someone. Speaking for myself and perhaps other women out there, I've had to learn to build a protective shield around my heart so as to not keep feeling that pain. I call it mindf***king. It's not that we don't give a damn about someone's feelings; it's that we go numb because we have to in order to survive ourselves. If the relationship is all wrong, and the man is the one who is messed up, fragile, damaged from past experiences, mentally unstable, and unable to cope with the loss, then it's inevitable that he'll be hurt. But my advice is that one learns how to mindf***k themselves into moving on and surviving. This doesn' t have to hardened one's heart; it's only used as a protection devise. And if the woman who leaves is truly a hardened *****, you should be glad she's out of your life anyway and realize she wasn't the one for you. Find someone who appreciates and loves you for you. She's out there somewhere. Remember though, NO one is perfect.

Wild generalization, but still. I think the woman does her reckoning BEFORE the breakup. That's why. If really committed to the relation, she does anything to make it work, e.g. talk to her partner, bring forward issues, try to solve them, and if nothing works proceeds with breakup. I would guess that a guy doesn't take issues personally as long as the relation continues, and afterwards starts to wonder what went wrong. Ok, ok, this is a wild generalization, too, but a viewpoint nonetheless.

i think it depends on the circumstances as well as the personality of the two parties, if one is more selfish than the other that will be the one to be able to move on quicker and easier, and probably the one who will never say they are sorry but in the long run they will be the one to suffer the most because it will catch up with them.

that's not true. it may be true in some cases but most of the time, irregardless of whether you're a man or a woman, getting over a failed relationship takes a lot of time to get used to.

I dont know who YOU'VE been talking to...it takes me forever. But one of my best girlfriends says, "the best way to over a man is to get under one" personally, i think that sucks. it takes a long time to move on

I've had my share of relationships and I've seen both men and women take it hard.
The women you have had relationships with obviously weren't in it for love.
Don't put all of us in one category.
