Crib used to be used to describe a stall where cattle were held, it also used to mean a confined space. Still does I guess, but people don't use it that way any more.
It is slang in some parts of the world.
Where I come from (New Zealand) the word crib is widely used in the South Island to describe a holiday home, it's not even considered slang, more just idiomatic.
In the North Island we call them a bach.
Oh, we don't tend to use the word crib to describe where a baby sleeps either. We call it a cradle, a cot or a bassinet.

It's slang. The word is obviously derived from it's original usage, that is "the home" of a baby... where the baby sleeps and naps. One's "crib" is where one sleeps, naps, hangs, eats, etc.
