Some people said even if they were married for over 30 years the spouse won't get nothing his/her disability or SSI if they get divorced? The social security might be but not the disability this is what I have heard because the disability is consider his money. I live in Califonria.

If a divorced spouse does not remarry and was married to her former spouse for at least ten years she will get a social security pension based on her former husband's pension (or wife's, etc.): http://www.ssa.gov/retire2/yourdivspouse.htm

Social security disability is different and is attributed solely to the former worker. But once pensionable age (65) is reached, it switches to a pension: http://www.socialsecurity.gov/d&s1.htm

I do not know about the disability part.But I do know that the spouse can collect social security on the other spouse even after the divorce.

It is difficult and next to impossible if it is his only income. However, when the wife retires, she can still get an amount equal to half of his social security. When he dies she gets an amount equal to all his SS but not the disability.

With the Court shows I see on TV, money is money.
The person making more, usually pays something.
Each State is different.

If you are under 65,you are not entitled to anything on his disability.If you are over 65,you either get SS under your name or under his,whichever is the largest.

after ten years you are entitled to a certain percentage of everything Id contact a lawyer here in your area
