Preventive Maintenance i never worse than breakdown maintenance, unless it is done too frequently, replaceing unnecessary parts. Then it becomes too expensive.

preventive maintence is more cost effective than replacing parts. But when you need to replace parts it is always better to replace all parts that work together as an old part will always shorten the life of the new part while the new part will never increase the life of the old part.
