I did the same thing. In all the books they tell you that the first movement could be felt as early as 4 months. Mine could've been kicking then, but I didn't star to feel the REAL kicks until right at 20 weeks. I had my little boy 4 weeks ago. And as glad as I am to NOT be pregnant anymore; I miss that! Enjoy and Congrats

I can't give first hand testimony but I do have five daughters so I've been through the baby in the belly stage a few times. My ex-wife could always tell when the baby was moving, sometimes with a poke, sometimes just readjusting position. At 19 1/2 weeks I wouldn't be at all surprised if the baby was moving. I must also add that the birth of my first child was the most miraculous thing I have ever seen (of course I was in the delivery room) and I hope your experience is just as wonderful.

Same thing happened to me, with my first kick. I was about 20-21 weeks, half a sleep and she hauls off and kicks once....lol. Little tease. I wasn't sure that was what I felt, until a few days later I was reclining on the couch and she did it again. I knew then. Let the fun begin, the movements will become more frequent now. Lie on your back and you may be able to feel the baby move a little more. My girl will be quiet all day but if I recline she'll get to squirming and kicking. Enjoy!

OK as you are nearly 20 weeks it probably was the baby, I found the best way to explain to my husband how it felt was like your tongue very lightly moving on the inside of your cheek, as you get further it gets harder and more obvious. Good luck and enjoy these first movements, I am only 22 weeks and I felt bub start kicking at 18 weeks now it drives me a little crazy as i feel like a punching bag and it when I'm ready to go to sleep.
Have a wonderful pregnancy.

It sound very like you are feeling your baby move. Its amazing isn't it! It can feel like bubbles or butterflies in the tummy too. Its much easier to realise you have been feeling it when it gets much more regular and you become used to it. Then you look back with hindsight and think 'ah!'. Baby still has so much room inside you that most of its movements are into the middle space where they can't be felt. I didn't feel my babies until week 21 and week 23.

I felt all mine at that time but not poking yet at that many weeks its called quickening but after 30 weeks their poking you and it can even hurt my first 2 were not as bad but this one (i'm 35 weeks) is like the alien movie were it feels like he's going to pop out of my belly button. It's an incredible feeling but he's killing me.

This early along it doesn't normally feel like a poke, It normally feels like fluttering. It doesn't really matter if it was the baby kicking or gas. I couldn't tell for the longest which it was, but it doesn't matter. Enjoy every bit of it while you can. As baby grows you''ll soon feel and SEE stretching across your belly. If you dreamed it great, I hope you have some--beats nightmares huh?
