I feel that my sister's husband gives her a hard time because she has a PHD. He has a high school diploma and often wishes he could go back. She supported him through 3 and half years of college but he quit after 2 F's and refused to gor back to school. She states that the amount of education a person has doesn't matter, but I feel that his issues stem from the fact that she makes a130 thousand per year and he makes 40 thousand. She is the superintendent of a small school district and he is the manager of a restaurant. He constantly makes jokes about it. How can I get my sister to see that the difference is killing his self esteem? She is crazy about him and truly does not care about the amount of education he does not have!!!!

He needs some good counseling through some common friends of their. You may advise him to go in for some business, whereby he can earn more than your sister. If he is able to prove himself successful in business, that may wipe out his low self-esteem.

Your sister and brother-in-law must sit down and have a heart to heart talk about this issue. If your sister can bring home the dough, your brother-in-law should feel thankful and contented. He should not resent it 'cos in society today the more you can earn it is better for the family. He should be a grown up about income earning since they are married. Whatever she earns helps within the household.

I'm more interested in why you are so interested in it. Obviously your sister doesn't worry about it, why do you? I'm sure if your sister stopped working, that her husband would quickly miss the 130 thousand a year. Get a hobby and stop medling.

he did not finish the course so he is the only one to blame
