Mach 1.
As the speed of an aircraft approaches the speed of sound, the flight Mach number is nearly equal to one (M = 1),
At sea level the Mach No = (Speed of aircraft) divided by (Speed of sound).
On an average day the speed of sound is 761 mph. So an aircraft travelling at sea level, at a speed of 500 MPH, would be flying at 500/761 = Mach 0.66
Named after Ernst Mach, Austrian scientist.

What is the speed of sound at sea level known as?
It is still known as the speed of sound no matter what altitude you're at.
Although air density changes the figure for the actual speed needed to break the sound barrier.

The density of water is four times higher than air
if the speed of sound at air is 720mph then the
speed of sound will be 1/4 times of speed at air
that would be 180mph to be precise

Depends on how fast you are running at the time.
If you are in a car doing 60 mph and you whisper in to the air by opening the window. someone sixty miles away will hear your whisper after an hour.......that is at sea level.
Do not try taking your car to say 30000 ft level as it will be too heavy for you and you will not be able to whisper...

Isn't that the muscle car that Steve McQueen drove in the famous chase scene in "Bullitt"?
