As a cancer who spent a very long time in a relationship with a gemini I understand where you're coming from. Alot.

My best advice would be this: Don't always expect him to understand that what you are saying and doing and presenting to the outside world isnt always what is actually going on inside of you.

Understand that your differing views and opinions can help strengthen the other. Just be patient.

Gemini & Cancer

When Gemini and Cancer come together in a love affair, it may be a rather curious relationship. Sensitive, emotional Cancer has trouble communicating clearly, but clear communication is what defines Gemini. Gemini's chivalrous nature and silver tongue may encourage the Crab to come out of its shell more quickly than usual; Cancer, in turn, can teach Gemini to slow down and appreciate the world, which the frenetic Twins hardly ever take time to do. If Gemini seems to ignore Cancer or doesn't provide them with as much reassurance and intimacy as Cancer needs, trouble may ensue. These two Signs approach the world in such different manners that they must be able to understand and accept one another's differences.

Cancer is the Sign of home and hearth, while Gemini is the thinker. Gemini can easily slip into the role of Cancer's knight in shining armor; Cancer returns that favor with their characteristic urge to protect the ones they love. Quality of home life is important to Cancer, and Gemini will be spoiled by their Cancer lover's hearty home cooking, soft bed and other creature comforts. Cancer is strongly intuitive and maintains an almost psychic connection with their loved ones, but can tend toward possessiveness and idealization of their Gemini partner. If Gemini just reassures Cancer that they're loved and cherished, all will go smoothly.

Gemini is ruled by the Planet Mercury (Communication) and Cancer is ruled by the Moon (Emotions). Cancer tends to keep their emotions bottled up inside as they have trouble expressing themselves. They envy Geminis their gift of open, clear communication afforded by the influence of Mercury. Gemini, in turn, can benefit from Cancer's intuitive approach, so different from Gemini's bubbly, surface nature; Cancer can teach Gemini to slow down and appreciate life instead of passing by the good things in their rush to get to the next new thing.

Gemini is an Air Sign and Cancer is a Water Sign. If these two Signs can work together they can be a great team; after all, the best decisions are made by incorporating the emotions and the intellect. The trouble for these two lies in learning to cooperate. They come from such opposite points of view that at times it can seem as if they simply have nothing in common. Deep, emotional Cancer can also sometimes dampen Gemini's airy enthusiasm, and light, fast-paced Gemini can leave Cancer feeling ruffled, even tattered. Balance can be achieved if they learn to talk openly with one another.

Gemini is a Mutable Sign and Cancer is a Cardinal Signs. Gemini is flexible, willing to go with the flow and follow another's lead; Cancer is an initiator and likes to provide that lead. Gemini may try to lead by being brave, even confrontational; for it to run smoothly between these two, they both need to learn when to back down and let the other lead the way.

What's the best aspect of the Gemini-Cancer relationship? Once they realize they're allies, they can soar to great heights together. Gemini is always thinking ahead and Cancer is quietly supporting these ideas behind the scenes. Each partner's ability to provide what the other is lacking makes theirs a fulfilling relationship.

I am Gemini, My Lover is Cancer

On the surface, it could seem like there are too many differences between Gemini and Cancer for this union to work. But if we look closer we can see why such a pairing could be the best thing for both, provided you give it a good try. You're an air sign your lover is a water sign, and together that is an effervescent mix!

First, the differences. Cancers are rooted in their home and family and need to set up roots. But Gemini, you can live out of a suitcase indefinitely, for you want to see as many different places as possible. You're eternally curious and could travel the world your whole life long. I think the character of Francesca in "The Bridges of Madison County" must've been a frustrated Gemini -- for after just a handful of hours with her photographer lover, she was ready to bolt despite her family obligations.

Your Cancer lover wants traditions, family holidays, children, a house, a back yard, and a mortgage. You would most likely prefer the variety and excitement of living in the city, or maybe even several cities, over a few years' time. You need change and stimulation; and without it you will become dull and depressed. You want children too, perhaps, but you'd rather just sling them on your back and bring them along as you globetrot. "The experience will be marvelous for them!" you think. Your lover would rather create a sheltered, storybook sanctuary for the kids to grow up in. But cut off Gemini from the stream of life and they become like the Emperor's Nightingale from the children's story: entrapped in a golden cage, they are no longer able to sing.

But on the other hand, Gemini, you need some water influence in your life. Cancers are highly sensitive and in touch with their feelings. Your Cancer lover is very sensuous, and could teach you a thing or two about enjoying touch, taste, sound, smell and sight. He or she will bring poetry and beauty into your life, and together you can explore a wider emotional spectrum than you ever could on your own. Your Cancer may even -- lo and behold! -- extend that famously short attention span of yours!

A Cancer will appreciate all the fun new people you add to your circle of friends, and will have a much more interesting life because of it. Cancer is a bit reserved, and may have to get used to the partying and socializing that come as naturally to you as breathing. This is just Gemini's way of keeping in touch! Cancer's meticulous maintenance of family correspondence with cousins, in-laws, siblings, parents, neighbors, old school chums, and so forth could get on your nerves. But you'll be flexible Gemini and cheerfully agree to tag along.

In bed, Cancers expect lovemaking to be a life-altering experience every time. What surprises you, Gemini, is that it usually is, because Cancer's feelings are authentic and deep. They may wish yours went deeper, but things may develop in time. Your Cancer will help you dive to the depths of the relationship, and, in so doing, you will not only learn about him or her but yourself, too. You are the stronger of the two partners; Cancer can be a bit tentative sexually at first. But you can certainly use your charm to seduce him or her into seducing you! Your contribution to the pairing is a sense of lighthearted fun, something Cancer will anticipate with relish.

Go for it Gemini, even though this is not a classic pairing. You both have your challenges, but each of you could give to the relationship what the other lacks. Gemini and Cancer are a combination that has the potential to be as sweet as chocolate & peanut butter, and just as addictive!

Don't bother using astrology. Base your decision on how well the two of you get along. All relationships take effort to work out.

Here's an exercise in determining the usefullness of astrology: Look at yesterday's astrology report in the newspaper today. You will most likely find that EVERYONE's horoscope can be applied to what happened yesterday.

Also note that the charts used by astrologers are thousands of years old. Guess what-they stars are no longer in the same positions, so even if they ever were correct, they are way off now.
