Prior to the birth you would just have colostrum, the first milk, which is thick and sticky and yellow. The birth of the baby (specifically the delivery of the placenta) signals your body to begin switching from making colostrum over to full milk production.

It doesn't really matter if you leak or not during pregnancy. A mom can have either experience and still nurse without problems.

Breastfeeding is all about supply and demand. Put your baby to the breast within the first hour and then nurse frequently, at least every 2 hours. This will help to bring your milk in. The links below are very helpful.

Call your local La Leche League Leader and try to get to a meeting prior to the birth if you can. She'll come visit you once the baby is born if you need help. Also, be sure to see the Lactation Consultant in the hospital.

you can't, all you'll have before delivery is colostrum which is a good thing for the baby. there is no reason to check breast milk at all.
