I not addicted to anything. It's not that I am not interested in anything, Iam interested in Chess, Philosophy, Astronomy, Literature, Psychology and everything under the universe, but still I cannot sustain the same interest level after some time. Am I alone or is there someone who feels the same as me. Even worldly things like Sex, money, smoking, boozing lose their charm after sometime. Am I sounding too philosophical or Am I the Ultimate GOD people are debating all over. Ready for all your bouquets and brickbats.
Note: Iam not even getting addicted to Yahoo answers. I think I may not visit after some more days

You are addicted to a continuously shifting environment, since something is either lacking in your environment right now, or something is very wrong in your environment, and you wish to avoid it all costs.

As a side note, sustaining the same interest level in something over the same duration of time is not an addiction, merely a hobby. An addiction is, as defined by Dictionary.com,the condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or involved in something.

Does that mean you lack passion? Addictions are not good. Usually we class an addiction as something we have an irresistible impulse to preform, usually to our detriment. These can include sex, drugs, and yes, simple things like spider solitaire. It's a wonderful thing that you're not addicted then.
And I don't think you're even close to being a god, feeling a bit superior to the rest of us, yup. But I think you missed by a wee bit. I guess that would be a brickbat, just in case you're counting, which you are.

You are like my uncle, he is extremely talented, excelled at anything he puts his mind to, and gets bored by routine things very easily. You have a mind that needs constant, new stimulation and challenges. Just be careful and find things that keep you mentally challenged, or you just might go crazy, and I mean literally. Worked as a volunteer in a mental hospital for 6 weeks for a class I was taking, over 1/2 of the people there were not "crazy" in the conventional sense, but were highly intelligent people, most considered genius level, but mentally unstable because they could no longer relate to others that were not at the same intelligence level as them.

That's nice. You don't have the gene which causes your hypothalamus to go overboard, multipaying you in endorphins for chocolates or cigarettes, or coke, though not all compulsions cross the blood-brain barrier. Otherwise, they'd be behavioral disorders. Traditionalists, on the other hand, think withdrawal symptoms, behaviors similar to chemical dependency, represent an addiction.

Nothing?

Good. Maybe you're depressed.

Addictions are just actions performed without awareness. A person who is in the 'groove' to do everything consciously does not even need a habit, and that way, lives more consciously, and would evolve better and faster !
Best wishes !

You are narrow and shallow like the inexperienced newly born is. All you want is change, not realizing that continuous change invariably becomes a cycle where things keep coming back again and again. It is depth and width of mind that can sustain interest in anything for a reasonably long period of time in order that fruitful outcome can be ensured. Fickle as you are, you are probably no good for anything - not even for the job of a copy typist!!

Don't mistake me - I am not being rude, I am just honest and telling you the truth as I see it. Of course I may be completely wrong and as you yourself suspect, you may be perhaps God-like rather than ordinary human being.

Takney,
Keep it up. That is the way we all should live. But there are very few. I keep the following norm:

No hatred towards what I have and
No lust towards what I don't have.

That keep me in peaceful world. I think you are right in the track, but don't be too confident that you are among the Ultimate GOD people. There is a lot more to learn and to be...... Good luck

you ARE addicted...your addictions are constantly transforming into other kinds
the fact that you are saying that you jump from one interest onto another actually IS a sign that you get addicted to ONE thing (you just have that passion for a certain period of time) and then transform this 'level of interest' into another subject
and the other way to look at it is you are addicted to changing your interests (or changing your addictions lol)

You are addicted to air, water, food, shelter and entertainment. Believe me when I tell you that you are not addicted to philosophy.
