i mean if you dont know them, like at the store for example "have a nice day honey" or "you forgot your change, dear"

so long as they're genuine I dont mind. if they have a big smirk on their face when they're saying it I dont like it. Oh and if its a stranger they have to be at least fifteen years older than me to say that. I dont know why, its just weird for a young person to talk to me like that :D

Yes I do, man i hate that !!!! Age does not seem to be a factor that I can tell -- once in a while you can tell it is not condescending, but usually it is as if they are telling me I am as inconsequential as a piece of fluff. I just sweetie them right back in that case.

it's patronizing when a woman calls somebody old enough to be her grandparent , "sweetie", or "honey". Learn to show some respect. Punk kid

I have ways of returning the sentiment.. like sayin 'so tell me then, oh heavenly father..."
or I use the same word they used but I say it louder & clearly.

They usually get the hint & they either stop or continue, at which point i am forced to whip out the big guns.. sarcastic insults.

It dosen't bother me much--nice older clerks do it alot--so I guess age is a factor--not a huge priority on my "annoying" list

nope. they're just being nice, i mean what's the problem? would you rather be called fool/idiot/moron/stupid boy/grl than dear/honey/etc.? they're just being nice. it's not a form of inferiority.. they just treat people nicely.
