I don't know, I never met your dog. With a dog that size that you don't know, one doesn't want to take chances.
Hispanics? That's a pretty broad category. If you mean Mexicans, usually they have a lot of common sense and don't take the chances that Anglos do because their safety net is not as big. Anglos generally have health insurance, money, political connections, and lawyers on retainer. Mexicans, and Mexican-Americans have to rely much more on friends and family. And, if they are up here illegally the last thing they need is a dog bite injury. That could bring them in contact with police and officials and get them sent back or put into jail.
Hey, my neighbors mastiff wants a peice of me and as he weighs in at 150 pounds, and has a mouth on him like a great white shark. I'm not going to take any chances. But they think he is a lap dog. They claim that they have an oversize bed so that he can sleep with them. How cute. He's all sweet to them, but he wants to eat me alive.
Basically, the Hispanics that you are speaking of are just probably smart.
You might be just kind of like the neighbors with the mastiff, that can't understand what's wrong with me because I'm scared shitless of their monster, who they think is a love puppy.
I suggest you check your dog out. He may be a sweet love dog to you but he might have an entirely different reaction to strangers. And, to be fair, he might be truly harmless, but he's sending a strong signal to those who don't know him.
Just think about it! What is the most common breed of dog used by law enforment agencies? What kind of dog do they patrol the border with?
You may be having trouble understanding other peoples' prudence. Mexicans usually have very good survival skills. They have to with all of the discrimination and mistreatment that they face in this country.
Anglos do crazy stuff with animals anyway. You know those shows on the Discovery Channel where they dive with sharks? All the people who do that are white. Why? Because white people think they own the world and everything in it. What color was the Crocodile Hunter?
While you are at it, why don't you ask Black people why they don't like German Shepards? Remember those films of the civil rights marches in Montgomery, Alabama where the police turned dogs on the demonstrators. What kind of dogs were those?
Plus, in throughout Latin America where the division between the rich and the poor is even greater than it is here, people keep mean, nasty dogs instead of or in addition to alarm systems. So with that background you might be a little leary of dogs too.
Meditate on this and you might find your answer. Sorry for the sarcasm.

I do not think you are interested in finding some cultural awakening. I think you like the power to see other people cower in fear simply because you have a dog notorious for being an aggressive dog. Your choice of the breed is very telling. See if you have the same reaction if you had a toy poodle dog.
Or, put it another way, let us see how you and your dog react if somebody shows up in your house or in your vicinity with a tiger or lion. Let us just see if you wet your pants and your German Shepard dog will bark to Kingdom Heaven while being shredded to pieces.
You just continue with what you are doing, because you seem to be reveling in it, and so sooner someone will sue you the minute your dog bites somebody. Let us just hope you have good insurance, else you will soon find yourself in a doghouse!

I don't know. I find to notice that too. I have a 9 month old female German Shepherd who is large for her age and is almost black. She loves kids and will whine when a kid walks away, such as kids she know and cares for. We live in a four house court so we know everyone, they all have kids and love Penny. My mom was selling stuff at our school yard sale website (its like craigslist but we know everyone) and a hispanic family came to look at some size 2 kid shoes my sister never worn and they were over reacting about my dog Penny not to mention my pomeranian Rosy. They were so scared I just don't understand, you don't show fear at any time. Penny and Rosy are adorable well trained dogs that went to doggie school.

My Friends dad needed to supply him up since someday it made up our minds that the kitten his spouse had gotten did not must are living to any extent further and shredded it correct there within the kitchen. The puppy used to be raised round cats its entire lifestyles. So he gave it to a buddy of his who lived nearly me. The puppy could holiday any chain he attempted and could move to the associates and bloodbath the chickens, ALL of them. Its unhappy however the ones puppies are NOT to be depended on!! Now German Shepard's. I recognize a pair that had the meanest German Shepard ever and when you had been as so much to face at the street subsequent to their force approach he'd come once you. They placed the puppy down after it attacked a woman driving a motorbike down the street. My nice buddy had two German Shepard's. She socialized them ALOT after they had been dogs and on no account used bodily field. They had been the kindest gentlest German Shepard's I had ever noticeable. They on no account bit or growled, they each died ultimately from Hip Dysplasia. With German Shepards it's all approximately how they're raised.

German shepherds can be frightening. I used to be scared of them when I was young because I felt they resembled wolves. I seriously doubt it is a cultural factor.
