ntldr is a necessary file for booting the OS. It was corrupted or deleted, so without it you can't boot into Windows.

You should have a restore cd from HP with your computer, but I would not use it as it may reformat back to factory settings and all you need to do is /fixboot or /fixmbr thru the recovery console, or if the recovery console is too much of a hassle, just a repair installation of Windows..but since you have HP, I would first call HP and ask them how to repair using the HP recovery disk.

This site offers step by step help for all Windows OS with the missing ntldr problem -http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000465.
But since HP creates proprietary systems you may do more harm than good. Calling HP is your best bet right now.

Also check to see that there isn't a floppy disk in the drive when you are starting up, the bios is usually set to boot from a: first and if there is a disk in there, you will get the ntldr is missing message - just remove the disk and you will boot normally.

NT -loader is in the MBR MASTER BOOT RECORD on the hard drive! You have a virus I believe this with all my heart and soul ... go to DOS and at the prompt type this command C:\ FDISK /MBR and that will re-wright the master boot record table where the ntldr is. Oh yea boot using a Recovery disk to get to the C prompt or safe mode with DOS

Press eject on the floppy drive - this solves about 1/3 of these problems.

Seems you either have a corrupted installation of Windows or a bad hard disk.
