There was a time in my life when things that had happened in my life crept into my mind and I would cringe with shame, guilt or embarrassment. One day I had a light bulb moment and I haven't been troubled since. What happened was I all of a sudden realized that I was human and all humans make mistakes. No one is perfect and we learn from our mistakes. When I make a mistake now, instead of shoving it to the back of my brain, I own up to it, laugh at myself if need be or admit to those around me that I messed up. When you can do that a great burden is immediately lifted from your shoulders and you never again have those cringing moments. Good Luck!

I've had this problem and it is not an easy question to answer. I want to see a Shrink to try and help me and it was nice to talk about my issues but it did not make my feelings go away.
One night as I was laying in bed, I felt something come over me and at that time, I put my trust in God. I asked him to help me find a way to get thru my issues and be able to live with what has happened. I needed the burden lifted and he helped me. I was to the point of being very depressed and suicidal. I ended up putting my faith in God other than Pills and dsalcohol to kill my pain .I

Face it and move on. If you let it bother you too much it affects how you live your life and you could be losing out a wonderful life. You have to chose to either be a victim to whatever happened or not....

If possible, I try not to run away anymore, and face the situation. Once you face it, you can make it disappear. Of course, it depends on the nature of the problem.

Like the rest of us, live with it -- life is not perfect.
And it's a comfort that others have the same problem.

Maybe you should confront the problem and get it over with....talk to someone you trust about it....a confession with a preacher might also help...

If there is nothing you can do about it, let it go... if you can do something about it do it! One way or another be done it! Live and learn.
