she is the steroetype of a daughter/ woman that was expected of her in the typical chinese family.
for a chinese woman, it is demanded of her to:
1) be fillial to her parents
2) be supportive, loyal & faithful to her husband & his family
3) be loving her sons

however, she managed to break away the social network of the 'feudelistic' chinese family eventually.
...a modern chinese girl trying to break away from old & stale practises (that suppress women's rights) to seek her own lifestyle.
