Not everyone feels that way about Germans. Heck, I married a German woman~ this is why I now understand why Germany started two world wars.

Anyway, Hitler was one of the worst figures in human history and the unfortuante thiing is that he actually did represent the views of many Germans at the time. This is why you get stuck with what may now be an unfair label.

Sorry.

Try being Swiss for a while. Thats not so bad.

There are plenty of cultures like that approximately different cultures. Are your household participants who're objecting immigrants? Immigrants have a tendency to react extra strongly. By the moment or 3rd new release within the US, it isn't probably that significant a deal until there are a few severe disorders in there someplace. (White Nationalists, and many others.) There *are* black men and women in Germany, they are simply now not very normal. If you appear at German Halloween costumes on-line you would believe now not a unmarried one among them had ever even obvious a black character earlier than, even though. Yes, it's racist through American specifications. Having had the improvement of spending part my lifestyles in Norway and the moment part within the US (to this point) I've obvious all sides of this. If she have been a black German, it could nonetheless be a bit of of an hindrance, simply now not as so much of 1. Just like if I had married a Sami guy, it could have nonetheless been an hindrance for my household, simply now not as so much of 1 as he'd nonetheless be a Scandinavian. (I married an entire Native American and the household used to be horrified. I divorced him and so they threw a get together. *sigh*) Incidentally, she cannot dilute any facet of YOUR background. If you marry and feature kids, they only would possibly not be utterly Germanic. THEIR background could be diluted within the eyes of your household, however it's inconceivable for the character you're relationship to deprave your DNA you already know. Tell them to recover from it. Eventually, they are going to. It will take time, even though. Hang in there and well good fortune!

People can be so, so very ignorant. I flew to Germany to visit my sister and found the country to be beautiful. I wasn't a big history buff in high school so I really didn't get into the whole Hitler thing. I guess its like an association thing. Why do Europeans always associate Americans with money. Lesser of two evils right?

Historically, when we think of any type of people, we tend to associate them with the people who were of that type that became famous (or infamous). For example, if one were to say Iraqi, a person's mind might think of one of the most commonly mentionted Iraqi people, Saddam Hussan. That doesn't mean that that person is representatory of the population, just the easiest thing in a person's memory to relate to that region.

If it makes you feel any better, when I think of Germany and the German people, I think of my visit to the area, and a good friend I have there.

I wish I knew. I suppose in another generation or two that will end, though, as WWII fades further into the past and out of America's immediate consciousness.

Ironically enough, there are more Nazis in modern America than there were in WWII Germany.

Ya.. I know what your dealing with.. I have one of those German last names. Was born in California, I am very proud of my heritage. And you should be to. What happened back in the 40s.. Has nothing to do with us. With my last name.. people always ask me where I'm from.. I just tell 'em Eureka, California..

I do not think that. I know better. Hitler was a moron. There is one thing I blame Hitler for today, and that is Zionism.

I'm sorry, when I think about Germans, I think about beautiful, sexually liberated people.

Anyone who hasn't gotten past those particular atrocities hasn't been paying attention to more RECENT ones.
