Put simple.. he has to keep saying that... he has backed himself into a corner. He kept saying for so long that we would 'stay the course.'

Now the latest is that he is no longer using that statement, as well as, he is no longer using the word 'democracy'.

The bottom line is that sanctions were working against Saddam and there was no reason whatsoever to invade then occupy Iraq. There were other threats that warranted such extremes but Saddam was contained.

I honestly don't think we will ever know the real reason Bush was pushed to occupy Iraq. My guess is it was Cheney and Rumsfeld whispering in his ear but as far as their reasons, I haven't quite figured them out. For sure, it could not have been political gain. Anyone halfwise to politics could have seen that a mile a way.

Remember, Bush answers to the Military-Industrial Complex which is running the show in Iraq. The MIC has so much invested in that illegal and immoral war they cannot afford to pull out- there's just too much at stake (especially when it's the Vice President's old company Halliburton -in which Cheney is still active behind the scenes- in charge of building the pipelines and the prisons.) Notice how there's been more violence, more 'insurgent' attacks over there ever since prominent military leaders and politicians have started questioning the war? The M-I-C, through CIA and other intelligence networks, are manipulating these...it's classic Problem-Reaction-Solution: "See what a mess this country is? We can't leave yet! They still need us!" I guarantee you, if the West pulled out of Iraq tommorrow, the whole thing would simmer right down. But that won't happen, of course...ultimately, the Iraq war will be a bigger blot on America's military record than Vietnam ever was.

Why did we go in to Iraq?

To make sure Iraq would not create WMD's that would be used against the US by Iraq or Terrorists in the future. mission
accomplished.

To remove Saddam from power for many reasons. mission accomplished.

To enforce the ceasefire agreement imposed after the first Gulf War. mission accomplished.

We won.

Why are we still there? To keep the muslims from killing eachother. If we leave Iraq now, we don't lose... The people of Iraq do.

We haven't lost anything, moron. If you want to speak of the devil, why don't you start bad-mouthing the insurgents, the terrorists, etc. It's just so incredible how no one seems to say too much about them; the ones causing all the trouble; instead they're bad-mouthing out own president. Go live in Iraq then, maybe you can make things better!

Sorry, but I'm glad that we have a president that doesn't bow to the influence of ignorant people. The democrats have done everything in their power to hamper this war at home and abroad just to help them regain power. That's what is really sad about this whole situation.

Bush is a nut case who's threatening the safety of the entire world. I knew we were in trouble with him after I learned of all his screwups in his earlier years. I knew he'd ruin the US but never imagined his negative impact on the world. As an American, I apologize to you.

He honestly believes this because he's only heard a fraction of the bad news. He has himself in a bubble, surrounded by syncophants who only tell him what they believe he wants to hear.
