I was 29 when I graduated nursing school and had 2 children and pregnant with my 3rd when i finished. Nursing is a very stable field, you can work no matter where you live or you can travel and do nursing contracts for 6wks to 6 months, making higher wages with all living expenses paid. Depending on why you want to be nurse will determine what you think about the job. All healthcare has sad times, people die, and babies are born. Labor and Delivery can be an awesome experience because you get to see Gods work first hand, but not all pregnancies end up with a happy ending and those are very sad. Nursing with the elderly, well, they are precious and like grandparents, but they also die. But, what you gain from all these experiences will make you grow and become a better nurse. Call some of your local colleges and decide if you want to be an LPN or RN. I suggest RN because the schooling is only about 1 yr longer. Ask the school what is involved, also ask if that college has a waiting list in the nursing program. Some schools do and you have to apply to the nursing program separately from applying to that college. I would suggest getting most of you core studies out of the way first, then you can concentrate strictly on your nursing studies. As far as your age..... one of the ladies I graduated from nursing school with was 65 so your never too old. Good luck in your decision!!

I believe many individuals appear at this area as a feminine most effective, or being female. But, its the equal with instructing and hairstylists. That does not imply you should not be a nurse. I believe it's satisfactory that men get into those forms of fields. Many colleges are making an attempt to take a look at special suggestions with the intention to get extra men within the area. I additionally believe that being a nurse often might be worrying, no longer simply on account that it's as a rule women. It is an fundamental activity, very busy , and plenty of tough paintings the ones matters mixed make it worrying. GOOD LUCK!

I was in nursing school with a number of people who were making career changes. One lady spent years out in LA making commercials...she had a journalism degree but decided she wanted to do something more meaningful. Many schools have fast track BSN programs (1-2 years) for students with previous bachelors degrees in other fields. All you have to do is take a few prerequisets (different from school to school but usually stuff like nutrition, anatomy that can be done at a community college) before applying. Check out universities in your area to see what their programs are like. Nursing is a great field with lots of different areas to explore. I was an ICU nurse for a few years and now am getting my masters to be a nurse anesthetist. I saw lots of people die, held the hands of people as they died, and comforted their families. I've also laughed with my patients and smiled ear to ear when really sick people got better and came back to thank us.
