I was born in USA, but I have lived in a foreign country almost all my life. I have a solid good job in the country I live in, but I do not make as much as I need to follow my plan of studying in China. I will be out of University until March. A friend of mine, from the country I currently live in, is going to work in USA at a hotel, doing 1/4 of the work I would do and will be paid 4 times more than me and he is not an american citizen(he applied to those foreign programs that help international students get jobs in america). If I apply for a job at US, will I have to quit my other job beforehand? What is the normal pay per hour in a hotel for example? Please help as I find it hard to decide whether to apply to US or stay in the country I currently live in. Thanks.

Well you have to factor in the cost of moving to the US and the cost of living here to earn the money you will earn. Will it still be that much more? If yes, then maybe you should try it for six months and save some money to take back home with you. I am not sure how much hotel employees make. I guess it depends what kind of job you get. Good luck!

Except for very senior positions in a hotel, the majority of staff are very poorly paid. I doubt you can earn enough to rent a room without a room mate to help with expenses.

ha it depend on what you do at the hotel. I would say stay where you are. We already have unemployment problems in the US.
