There is no such first village or place in Kerala in regard to 100% literacy, but in India Kerala was the first state to become 100% literate. Kerala was finally declared a ‘totally literate state on 8th April 1991

Kottayam town is the first town in India to have achieved 100% literacy (a remarkable feat achieved as early as in 1989).
