If you are going to So Cal, of course you can hit all the regular tourist spots- Disneyland, Knotts, Universal Studios- but I'd suggest staying a night or two in San Diego and going thru Balboa Park where the zoo and all the museums are, its close to downtown and their "gaslamp District" is full of clubs and restaurants etc and hotels. Also the beaches of course and Seaworld too. Then drive up the coast to the "OC" Particularly Newport's Little Inn by the Bay is clean nice and cheap- they have a site on the web- they'll give you bikes for free to use and you can cruise around the pier areas and all- its great. Within walking distance is Balboa Pennensula and its Funzone and Pier- Eat at Ruby's down at its end- good burgers and coffees and you can eat on the roof and the view is fab. Also every weekend is the Costa Mesa swapmeet- it takes approx 3-4 hours just to walk the thing (be sure to visit the bagel guys) its 2.00 to get in and at the Fair Grounds -right at the end of the 55 fwy- you could ride your bike from the hotel almost-Next up the coast is famous Huntington Beach. Great area of clubs, shops and of course the surf museum by the pier--- then go do your own drving tour through LA- like Sunset Blvd and such....You could fly into San Diego and go back from LAX....Have fun. Get on the Web! and search
