Humans have ten fingers; thus a base-10 number system naturally evolved. But have any civilizations throughout history used a number system other than base 10?

Base 12 was used by the Sumerians, I believe.

I think that's where we got 360 degrees in a circle, 24 hour days, 60 second minutes, and so forth.

I think the Mayans had a base16 counting system.
