MTBE also known as tert-butyl ether has quite a few distinctive physical properties.
It is volatile, colorless liquid (at STP), relatively soluble in water (due to is partially polar nature of ether), unpleasant order and taste in water, molecular mass of 88.15 g/mol, density of 0.7404 g/cm3, melting point of −109 °C, and boiling point of 55.2 °C.
