That question is way too big for the wording to have an effect on his response. If you really want to have a child with him, focus on getting your relationship back to a point where you won't have to worry as much about how he would react.
But if you just want to feel things out, you could ask the hypothetical "What do you think would happen if I were pregnant and we found out that you were the father?" That might help you figure out if it's something worth pursuing.

There is a reason he is you ex! You need to resally think about him being the father of your child. Right now you have no ties to each other other than the fact that you used to be married. If you have a child together than you would have to deal with each other for at least 18 more years can you live with that?
But if you are really serious about this then you need to sit him down and talk to him about get his opinion of it. who knows maybe you two can reconcile and be together again.
I wish you the best of luck and hope all works out. But I really suggest thinking really hard about if this is something you really want to do. Cuz I have two children with my ex and wish I didn't have to deal with him as much as I do! I don't regret having my children they are my life but he can be a real *** when it comes to them.

What's the best way to explain to your baby that he/she has no father only a sperm donor. Does anyone ever think of the child ?

Why stick him with your problem.....what in gods name think he's going to want to be the father of some other guy you slept around with......man you have nerve.
Why not ask the sperm donor to be the father.
