Regardless of their religious beliefs, it's a dumb holiday, and it could be dangerous.

Parents don't let their children go trick or treating alone for a number of reason. Drivers can't always see them, there are freaks who want to molest children, and there are people who want to give children tainted candy or fruit. I think it's a good parent that goes out with their children for trick or treating.

It's funny, because a lot of times Christian parents won't let their kids trick-or-treat because they think Halloween is a Pagan holiday.
SAMHAIN (pronounced sow-IN) is a Pagan holiday, which is what Halloween was created from, but Halloween is a Catholic holiday, made official in the 300's C.E.
Now Christians are trying to turn THEIR OWN HOLIDAY into a "Harvest Festival," which is exactly what Samhain, the ACTUAL Pagan holiday, was all about from the very beginning!

I think it's more about paranoia.
They're afraid that something bad might happen to their children.
Or that people might hand out bad candy.
Some parents that are health freaks just don't allow their kids to go trick
or treating b/c candy is bad for you.
I'm glad my parents weren't like that. People get offended way too easily
and freak out too easily lately, it's sad. I remember when we could have
Christmas, Easter, Halloween, and all sorts of parties in elementary school.
Now you can't celebrate anything b/c it can offend someone and kids
aren't even allowed to put candy on valentine cards. wth?

I agree with you,
Plus kids these days could use a little extra exercise!!!
When I was little my mommy and I would go trick or treating and at the end she would offer me $20 for all my candy (I would get a few pieces of course) and we would donate it to our local childerens hospital.
I would get exercise, little candy and some money! woot woot!
Now what is wrong with that?!
I overheard some kids saying "Why go door to door when you can buy it the next day on sale?!" (They were all porky kids to) Just amazes me!

There isnt one certain reason but some are
-its an "evil" holiday -rolls eyes-
-parents are lazy asses and wont take them
-the fear of getting kidnapped
-pedos
-poison in the candy
-dont have money to buy the costume
-they dont beleive in halloween.

Well my parents didn't allow me to trick or treat much, not bcause of religious reasons, but bcause they do not trust others. Although it may b rare, there r ppl that do want to cause harm. My parents prefer to buy me all the candy that I want instead of me going out. I dont really blame them for their concern.
