Here's the deal. I have two roommates that live with me. We have a year long lease and they told me a week ago that they want to break the lease at six months. the six month point is in a week so they only gave me two weeks notice. Both of them are breaking the lease so that they can go live with mommy and daddy b/c they "can't take the pressure."
They're parents pay for gas, their cars, their food, their phones, and pretty much everything including $200 of their monthly rent. the only thing they don't pay all on their own is utilities and going out. For me... I'm not so fortunate. I'm not in a bad situation, but my parents don't give me any support. No big deal. But my friends told me they would pay to break the lease if i found a new place. Not a big deal. it sucks, but no big deal. Now i'm more than doubling my rent for the new place, and increasing all my bills and including the douwnpayment on the new place. I'm going to refuse to break the lease unless they pay 4 it. am i right?

yup, if all your names are on the lease, the 2 who want to break it need to pay.. that is just the way it is... the lease is like a promisary note, they dont want to pay for it till it ends, so they should pay the penalty !!!! maybe you could stay where you are, get other room mates ?? start asking around I am sure there are ppl who would like to mabye get rid of or try new room mates themselves... God bless
