Ouch. Please stop scratching. That's only going to make the problem worse. When I was pregnant, I did get an itchy stomach, but every time I did, I remembered what everybody under the sun told me about scratching, and how you should never scratch. You could get permanently big stretch marks from scratching, and yes, it is very normal to itch. What you described is just the side effects of too much scratching of your already stretched skin. You know what I did when my tummy itched? I pinched the skin where it was itching. Just pinch along with your fingernails wherever it is itching. That helped me a lot. I'm sure you probably have used cocoa butter cream, as most pregnant women do. I used it, and it helped for the most part, but my tummy still itched a little. Use the hell out of it! It will help so much, I swear. I hate to think of what my tummy would've looked like if I didn't use it. You can also use lotion, any type, for itchy skin on your breasts. It really helps to ease the itching, which is usually caused by a combination of dryness and stretching. Good luck, and best wishes for you and your little one.

I am only 21 weeks so I haven't experienced an itchy stomach yet but what you are describing sounds like hives or something. You may be reacting to a laundry detergent or something, even if you have used the same one for years when you are pregnant your body reacts to things differently.

Cocoa butter will never work. I guess you are gaining too much of weight. I gained 40 pounds and I was skinny before. If you are skinny too, your skin stretches too much. If you scratch more, you end up getting too much of stretch marks, which stays in your tummy forever. So please do not scratch.

cocoa butter won't really take care of the itch. the bumps are normal. I have psoriasis and it got worse with pregnancy so you can imagine how that was, but you can use hydrocortizone creme and it helps with the itch, moisturizes, and won't hurt the baby.

Acorrding to the book "what to expect when you are expecting" try using a baking soda ammonia paste 1/2 cup of backing soda with enough household ammonia to make a paste. then rub on the tummy.
A friend of mine used it and she said it worked better than any lotion she tried.
So good luck!

are you having a heat rash type of thing? sounds normal though, do like your mom told you and try not to scratch- use a little lotion on your skin to help- it is because your skin is stretching. best wishes to you

this is normal BUT-
you NEED to stop scratching- you going to give yourself massive stretch marks!!
When it itches instead of scratching put on cocoa butter or any other thick lotion.
Trust me-

It happened to me. Try body butter or cocoa butter- lots of it. If that doesn't help, talk to your doc or midwife. Congrats!
