I'm a real punk when it comes to pain. I want a tatoo but I want it on the least painful place possible.

Everyone is different. Neither of mine hurt super bad ( outside of my calf and across back/shoulder blades) The back one was the worst, but I think that was more the fact that it took 4 hours and the artist had to go over several spots several times for colour changes. The two worst place that I have heard from various friends is the lower back over the kidneys and on the ribs. If you do not handle pain well, I suggest starting small. The one on the side of my calf is small and the worst of the pain was for a couple of days after, the muscle felt tight when I walked.

It definitely depends on nerve endings. If it's near a high sensitivity area, it will be more painful (feet, ribs, hips, elbows). It doesn't matter if it has less fat or not. I got a tattoo right above the muffin top area (which I would consider a fattier area) and I nearly died in the chair. But I'm also a girl with a low pain tolerance. But tattoos on a bone hurt like hell. Overall though, don't be scared. I was more afraid when I got my tattoos than I should have been. Initially, it hurts, but afterwards it actually feels kind of good. Or so I'd like to think. :D

The bottom line is that a needle is a needle and any where we get one it's gonna hurt. I have one on my arm. That hurt but I have a high tolerence for pain. What the hell go get one so what if it hurts (STINGS) alittle. I assure you the pain you endure is for alittle while because after the pain of getting the darn thing is over, it itches like crazy for 2 weeks and you can't scratch it. I always slapped my arm. After all that you have a nice tattoo for you to show off. Heck I wanted a tattoo people could see if i'm paying 160.00 for it. Whats the difference where you get it at.? it won't be there for long once you get older.

Bicept isn't bad, between the shoulder blades kind of tickled a little bit. My wife got the "tramp stamp" right above the butt crack on the small of her back, and she was in agony. I also know about a few people who got the top of their foot done, and that hurts a bunch as well. To test the area, have someone pinch you in a certain area. If it hurts a lot, so will the tattoo. If it doesn't hurt too bad, then the ink won't be too bad either.

The places with the most meat don't hurt as bad. But places like the ribs and hips hurt alot. Take a pain killer before to help ease it a little.

The most painful is where there are more nerve endings. Your hands and feet especially. Meat doesn't mean much. I got one on the back of my shoulder where there is little meat and it didn't really hurt. I got one on my lower back on the left hand side and almost passed out. There is of course more meat there than over the shoulder.

Ok, I have six huge tattoos and it's sooo NOT true that the meatiest places hurt the least. I got a tattoo on my lower back that extends up to my sides.... when they started tattooing my sides I wanted to cry.

The places that hurt the least on me: My arm, wrist, back of my neck and shoulders.

Exactly what Kelley said, where you have some meat between the skin and bone to cushion the needle.

I have two and it's more irritating than actually painful.

Wherever you get your tat it will hurt.

The least pain may be from your leg (calf) arm (bicept) shoulder (back blade).

I got a tiny one on my inner ankle, it hurt for 2 days.

B4 you get your tat RESEARCH...RESEARCH, look into the color change, palor grade, etc.

best of luck.

Try to avoid bony areas like the wrist and the ankle. Or thin areas like right on the breast.
