My sister brought over her new puppy 2 weeks ago, and the puppy went pee on my carpet. It smells so bad! When it first happened to blotted it all up, sprayed carpet stain on it, and cleaned it up. I could still smell it. I had my carpets shampooed - still smelled. I then tired Nature's Miracle - it still smells. HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS STINCH? There is no stain, just odor.

Goodness, that little guy apparently peed a lake. Could be the smell seeped down into the pad.....and worse, into the floor below. Before you rip up the spot, try using one more, well, two more products......First is Simple Green, yeah the cleaner. Then use a product called Smells Begone. Works on skunk.

IF that doesn't work, you'll need to cut out the stinky spot and the pad below. Clean the subfloor (if you smell pee down that far) Problem with pee in wood is now it needs to be encapsulated. Kilz or B-I-N can be painted over the floor......providing it isn't hardwood, just plywood. Then replace the pad.....you can try cleaning it, nothing to loose. Finally clean the carpet again and reset with double sided tape. Or you could cut a replacement from a closet and put the stained in the closet.

It could have been worse, you could have hardwood floors.....once the stink is there, it is nearly impossible to remove. ......and then there's the boys peeing on wallboard.........

I've got 3 dogs all raised from peepy-hood...I mean puppy hood. Okay, yeah I love dogs and the pee spots come with the hobby. I have a great system for those accidents, when my other great system of potty training doesn't work.

Once you find a spot, blot it up as best you can. In your case, it is already dry and what's left are the urea acid protiens and these need to get cleaned up. My system uses "almost" boiling water with a bit of PineSol. I heat a pan of water on the stove to about 160 degrees, add a bit of PineSol and pour this liquid directly onto the carpet stain until it makes a puddle. Let is soak in right through to the pad. After about 1 minute of soaking, use a Wet/Dry ShopVac and thoroughly vacuum the area - the vacuum should suck up ALL of the liquid and just leave the area damp. This has worked for me with really bad spots. It seems the boiling water rehydrates the urine crystals making them easier to suck up with the vacuum.

Then again, you may have really sensitive smell and you might have to replace that portion of the carpet/pad and seal the underlayment as suggested by the other answerer.

Hi
First thing pick up the large pieces if it is still wet dab area with towels to absorb as much as possible.

Nature’s Miracle should work. It is available at Petsmart. Make sure you follow the direction. The main reason that it fails is that people just sprays it on and wipe it up and not let it soak into the carpet like the urine did. You my need to do this 2 or 3 time. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly.
In my experience, Nature's Miracle is your best bet. Good luck!

Try some color safe bleach, Oxy-10 powder diluted. Use real bleach diluted, I don't know what color your carpet is but I'd rather have a light colored spot than a stinky spot! It probably went through to the floors. You may never get it out. Maybe there is more than in that one spot. Get one of those special black light wands that shows all urine that is present. They are not expensive. It works on human stains too. That might show a little more than you want to know, Ha Ha !!! It might gross you out or something & you won't be able to forget it's there !
