The dorm I'm in now has no AC, so it was HOT (I live in Atlanta) during the beginning of the semester. We do have an air conditioned basement though. Now that the cool fall weather is here, the heat (thank God we have it) is on, and it's very comfortable. Luckily, I stay in one of the dorms with the largest rooms on campus. Most freshman have "walk-in" closet rooms. lol
Other than that...there's no place like home, but I enjoy living here. A downside to communal living is that people are sometimes rude and nasty. Occassionally you'll have someone shouting in the hall, playing super loud music, or leaving gross items in the restroom.

tight as hell. i was three of us to a room...1 bunkbed and a single bed. We had cold, granite type floors. We didn't have regular walls it was more like walls you see in a jail cell...we had to share the bathroom...3 on each floor....4 public showers and 5 public toilets to each restroom with over 1500 girls in the dorm...we had to wear shower shoes...overall it was gross but it was the best year of my life.

i wasnt living in a dorm then, it was an all-girls boarding house.i was sharing a room with an accountancy stud who was so messy, with all her journals and scratch papers around. we had separate beds, a pc, loads of books, Harry Potter posters, glow-in-the-dark stickers. our room was facing the highway, across it was the all-boys boardinghouse and every saturdays, our room would be packed with fellow boardmates whistling at the boys who were staying outside. then they would scamper or crawl under my bed when one of the boys would look at the source of the whistle. it really drove me nuts! but looking back at it now, it gives me a good laugh :D

well, my room right now is pretty awesome. i have a single - no roommates, but i do have a suitemate (we share a bathroom). i have a giant wooden loft for my bed. plus my own tv, tv stand, and bookshelf. and the university gives everyone a futon - it's kind of crappy, but it's alright. and i have a chair and lamp in the corner.
all in all, it's pretty sweet. right down to the fridge, microwave, and lava lamp!
