I was just watching Young Frankenstein, and I have to say that the castle they use looks an awful lot like the castle in the Holy Grail (Monty Python) ... the one where there's the gigantic "battle" and the bride's entire family gets slaughtered. Is it the same set for both films?

Best Regards,
Holly

The castle with the gigantic battle in Monty Python and the Holy Grail is Castle Stalker in Appin, Argyll, Scotland. Swamp castle (the one with the wedding) is actually Doune Castle, Doune, Perthshire, Scotland.

The castle used in Young Frankenstein wasn't a real castle at all but a set built in a lot and recreated to look like the one in the original 1931 Frankenstein movie.

I don't see how. "...Holy Grail" was filmed on location in England using real castles as sets, and "Young Frankenstein" was filmed on the backlot of a Hollywood studio.

the castle that was used in "Young Frankenstein" was the same castle that was used in the original "Frankenstein" made in 1931
and they also used the original lab from that movie

Same lab equipment as the original movie from universal. Not sure about the castle. It looks much like the castle used in 1965 s The Great Race
