Along long LONG time ago well in the 17th century i think well when george washington lived why did the British tax colonists so heavily and the battle of trenton how did that help?

Is it fair to tax us??? Well, I would say yes...if you are talking about fixing roads (transportation), homeland defense, and education.
I would say no to most anything else.
We should be taxed Nationally for things that are used by a majority of the populous.
I do not agree with paying taxes so a few people can by. Those type of taxes should be handled by each State.

The revolution was fought in part because of taxation without representation. This country started out with excise taxes being the only source of revenue for the federal government. As time has gone by and more services are provided by the federal government rather than the states the federal taxes have gone up to pay for the services that we citizens demand.

The British taxed us because we were a British interest.....our constitution say's we shall not be taxed...after we became our own nation....it is a subject wrought in controversy even today....

Tax is generally to help public at large with facilities and other securities.

However there are dictators or corrupt minded who misuse taxes. Which requires Public control.

Still it is fair to tax
