A planet's color is due to it's size, chemical composition, and other things, such as how much light is reaching it (remember, color is just an impression we get from whatever light is available to the atmosphere). I would think chemical composition would be the most important thing, however.

It's what the atmosphere is made up of. Light moves at different speeds depending on what the medium its moving through. Some planets don't have much atmosphere so they just look like the rocks on the planet.

the color of a planets atmosphere (if it has one) is due mainly to the way light bounces off of it's chemicals. some color can be due to the color of the planets surface.
