Umm...wat does && stand for? is it just and and?

Ive seen some of my friends use this [&&] i duno if it just means and and or if what im thinking sounds very stupid, sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but i just wana know X]

Previously, I thought that you were referring to the English pound sign. Their "dollars" are pounds over in the UK, but of course they have a different value than dollars-- usually greater.
