Yes and No. Colorado does have tornodos but more than 90% occur in unpopulated areas well east of I-25 out on the plains.

I used to live in Adams County Colorado and yes there are violent tornadoes on occasion (as opposed to calm tornadoes).

no not really. We do get a some tornados on the plains... it seems like Morgan and Weld counties get hit a lot. These last few years haven't really been that bad, but i can remeber a bunch of bad summers when I was younger. Tornado alley where they have the F5 tornadoes is farther over in Kansas and Oklahoma.

They are mostly in the Eastern Plains, however, they do hit the surrounding counties like Adams and Weld. They are rare in Denver but they DO appear there on occasion. I was working at the JD Edwards campus (at the I-25 and I-225 intersection ) and I WATCHED a funnel cloud appear over the Cherry Creek Dam area. As I booked for the parking garage, I told a security guard about it. The dumb turd didn't do anything about it....

They built DIA in " Tornado Alley " too.....

The number one county in the U.S. for tornadic activity is Weld County, Colorado with Adams County coming in a close second. As far as violent tonadoes...I didn't know there were any other kind, but we don't typically see tornadoes of the magnitude that one might in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, etc.

Colorado does have occasional tornados, but the Rocky Mountains tend to break-up cyclogenic storm systems.

Colorado isn't known as a hotbed of tornadic activity but tornadoes can and do occur pretty much anywhere in the USA.
