Does money determine your social status in America?

Money has little to do with social status in America, or it used to be that way.

Typically, rich families would spoil their children, who would be useless, spineless idiots at adulthood and piss away their inheritance and end up on soup lines. Industirous middle class kids would end up CEO and heads of universities, and poor kids would jostle and fight their way into middle class, using education and union wage work opportunities.

Nowadays, we have illegal immigrant labor brought in by the corporations to create a subclass that helps the bigwigs rob from the poor and give to the rich; real wages are depressed, the cost of education has skyrocketed, few businesses pay sufficient taxes to support infrastructure and public education, etc.

So the US is quickly sinking into third-world oblivion with a small class of overprivileged idiots, a small yet tormented middle class and an ever-increasing poverty rate. At the nadir, all the illegals will be escaping to Mexico and Central America to avoid the negative environment. Oh well, the party was good while it lasted . . .

Being poor only effects your life if you let it!!! I was born into a very poor family but I've been staying in school, and this June will be the first person in my family to graduate college, EVER! I'm going to law school next year and I know that I will finally have some money once I graduate. Its been (and will continue to be) a rough road, but they don't call it "pulling yourself up from the bootstraps" for nothin!

I was born middle class. I'd say that balanced me out just fine. I am not greedy or and i am not starving. Plus money does not affect your life. IT's behavior experiences that changes your life. I came out just right with a chip on both sides thanks to my parents.

I would have it middle class all the way. That way i don't end up too greedy and I still have the sense of being limited.

Poor and still struggling and to me money does not mean a thing to me much because it goes right into people heads that it defines status. I hate this social status crap because it is not a fair system to all humans on this planet. Like they say " money is the root of all evil" and greed is going to destroy this planet one of these days if it is not stopped.

Growing up, I sometimes thought my family was rich, sometimes I thought we were poor. But at my age, I think I'm grateful. I'm feeling like I'm the "richest" person right now.
I realized during puberty that we were middle class.
Don't "rich" means how much of a quality there is and not how many of it?
