i was wandering if an 89 ford tempo's Oxygen Sensor would work in a 96 pontiac Grand Am Se 2.4L beacause having major probs with the pontiac

Nope. Autozone has some generic O2 sensors for about $40. An OEM would be about $90.

look there are universal O2 sensor in the automobile business the ones you have migth work but the trick is that even if they look the same you wouldn't know witch wire goes in the rigth place even if the color of the wire look the same because you will need an O2 sensor diagram to find out witch wire is the heater ground /heater power/reference signal/and signal return and this is just an example because there are four wire/ three wire / two wire and single wire sensors so it is kind of tricky but there's hope
because when you buy a universal O2 sensor the diagram for the different configurations comes with it.......good luck

Count the wires and make sure they're the same. But best, go to the auto parts store, and have them look up the numbers for both cars. If the numbers are the same, then the part is the same. But chances are, they're not. Just shell out the money and buy a new one.

i own a repair shop,and no you cant ,there two different parts all together,you,ll have to have the right one for it before it will work right on it,good luck,i hope this help,s.
