I'm not from India and have no idea what to wear to a friend's wedding in India. It's not a super-formal wedding, but I want something trendy and nice. I don't want to look ostentatious or stand out too much. He said wear anything, but I have no idea. Help!

Oh, and I look like my avatar. I've looked at some websites, but there's so much to choose from: embroidered, chiffon, silk!

Dear friend,
By reading your question, I have known that you are a human being, but the gender is not made known. How can anyone suggest any dress without knowing the gender. Try to be more specific next time.
Anyway, if u r a Boy, wear a good suit, & if u r a girl, wear a nice saree. Take the help of your age group friends, & i'm sure you'll get help.

The gown is eye-catching. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, once you get carry of it you had YOUR special day in ideas, and the events surrounding it - your bathe or prepare consultation dinner. would you rather need to positioned on that to a marriage earlier rather everyone can see you in it at your journey? even nonetheless that's no longer thoroughly white, that's stable etiquette to stay far flung from white altogether on somebody else's wedding ceremony day. i'm particular you will look eye-catching in it, so i'd keep it on your particular events. you could continually purchase a pretty gown at a place like aim it is low value for the different wedding ceremony

I would suggest you to wear a salwar. You can go to any Indian store wherever you are and get something that fancies you. They usually have tailors to get you the best fit. Also, get accessories for the dress like bangles, necklace and ear rings and hand bags. If you want to be more classy, go for a Ghagra, its a blouse with a long skirt and a long scarf worn over the shoulders. It comes in beads, sequins, embroidery and all bright colors.
Good luck and have fun!

Hmmm well you want to look fromal but trendy and cute at the same time for a wedding. I suggest a tubtop dress. Something that is tight fitted in the torso and chest area and then soemthing that kinda flares out at the bottom. If you dont want to stick out you should wear a color that is similar to your sking tone.

It wld have been easier if u wld hav mention ur gender.
Bt no probs,me stil thr 2 help
If ur a guy,u can go 4 a "kurta pyjama" (get it made 4m tailor,or buy it 4m a shop,bt DO MENTION 2 THE TAILOR/SHOPKEEPER THT U NEED 1 4 D MARRAIGE).Bt if u hav a prob in ths thn u cn wear a suit,minus the tie.
If ur a gal,thn i thnk u can waer a "salwar kameez"(thr r different options available like churidar,patiala,etc...).Ths can b bought 4m a shop or again made by a tailor bt dnt 4gt 2 mention tht its 4 a marraige.
Another option is "sharara"(kind of indian bell bottom or an indian dress wid large flares).
u cn wear any colour,bt avoid reds nd blacks
For footwear,
male-punjabi juttis wid kurta pyjama,nd formal shoes wid suit.
female-punjabi juttis or sandles.
I wld not suggest saree if u havnt worn 1 b4 as it can b difficult 2 handle.Plus,u shld avoid wearing anythng western.
u cn ask ur frnd 2 help u find stuff,nd if u cn mention d state/city whr u gng and wot u hav decided 2 wear,u mite gt help regarding shop nd tailors 2.
njoy nd hav fun

Well since ur a foreigner to the country then wer something
bright.. like lime greens.. and red flowing dresses. - Since its
a wedding It should be bright!
Its gonna be hot so wear something comfortable.
If u'd like to wear something more traditional. Find an Indian
Tailor. They'll make something for u over there. And also at
a resasonable price!

India is quite a conservative country. Also it would be best that you ask your friend who invited you for the wedding what are the do's and dont's since this country is very conservative when it comes to their culture. There might be something about your wardrobe that might insult them (lets say colors that you can't wear and etc.....) To make it safe, just make sure something that is not that revealing. From there you can norrow down your options. good luck on the party!!!

If you are Indian, be traditional... it's at times like this that you can doll up in one of the Indian garbs you get to only admire in the movies. Go to any of the fashion shops in Little India for help ! They will even help you with the accessories.

I agree with the black dress.. wear something that's comfortable for you, but stands out as sophisticated and stylish. You could never go wrong with a simple black dress with the right accesories.
Good Luck.
