I agree that it is who we have elected to manage our money. The same reason we pay billions of dollars for the war and in return get inflated taxes. The same reason immigrants move here and get better breaks than our own citizens.
Its all about money. Our schools and neighborhoods suffer because our money is being spent on wars, elections and other countries. It makes me sick.VOTE.

We have excellent roads. There may be a few potholes, and there might be fa few rough stretches, but as a whole we have excellent roads, even by Western standards. Look at Canada for example. It has a single two lane highway connecting its coasts. Compare that to our interstate system.
We do get clean water. The majority of the world needs to purify water in there homes in order to be able to drink it. Unless if you are extremely sensitive to generally harmless minerals, unlike the rest of the world, or you are paranoid, then tap water is plenty clean. spending more money to further purify it would be irresponsible because it would take a lot of money and deliver 0 in terms of health benefits.
Your most ludicrous claim is that there is no electricity. What are you writing this on? It is a computer. It uses electricity. If you were telling the truth, you could not ask this question.

Good question. Responsibility is two sided. You have the responsibility to pay taxes. The government has the responsibility to provide all basic amenities. If every one thinks like that where shall the nation be heading? It is also our responsibility to make the govt. realise its failure and make wake up from the slumber. Unfortunately, it not an easy job to do. For that all the citizens have to unite and fight for our rights. The day shall come soon. By not paying the taxes are we not emulating the politicians who care very little for the progress of our nation.

the government is responsible. to improve your problem, you need to organise the people to demand service. tell everyone, get signatures. demand that the money be spent in the area where taxes are paid. let the media know that taxes are collected, but not for the benefit for those who paid them. . if you make enough of a fuss, then someone will pay attention and the government will do something to basically shut you up. you know the old saying, that, " the wheel that squeeks the loudest, gets the oil. " good luck.

Yes dear. It is the right observations you have raised. We are paying tax even on buying a "Lux" then we people in India, are being forced to pay for Toll Tax, Water bill, Hospital OPD Registration Charges. I would like to draw attention of all citizens of India, that we are paying Road Tax at the time of buying any type of motorized vehicle, again paying Tax on filling of petrol / diesal, paying service tax on Replacement components, WHY WE PAY TOLL TAX when we have to cross Railway Over Bridge or high level bridge. We have to start a nation-wide protest on this aspect.

Ultimately, we pay tax becaus eif we don't the government would jail us or seize our assets.

In a democracy, if governments don't give us reasonable returns, we vote them out and either elect someone who will impose lower taxes or someone who will wgive us better services. If this isn't happening, then you don't have a genuine democracy and citizens need to find ways to make governments responsive.

If you are in a democracy, don't complain if you don't bother voting!

We pay taxes, even we don't get basic amenities, :

JUST TO ENSURE THAT OUR LEADERS, (ELECTED BY US) CAN FLORISH WITH THEIR NEXT TEN GENERATIONS.

How ever, we are rough & tough, and rich by heart, being self answerable to this mishap.....ok

Well, government bloat and waste is our fault. We elect our lawmakers, who waste our money. We let them keep wasting, instead of voting honest people into office.

where do you live, maybe you should move. You could also complain to your local council and find out why they don't provide the things you mentioned.
