They can do it, however, they sometimes offer some type of severance when they do. I would check with the company handbook if they have a severance policy. If you just graduated from school, you should tell your career services. They frown on this kind of thing, and will often blacklist companies from interviewing on campus in the future. Anyway, you should probably spend your efforts first securing another offer.

Yep. If they hired you for work that was cancelled or cut back they have the right to reduce staff and they can cancel their new hires. Normally they will do this to protect at least some of their more tenured employees.

If they signed an agreement that in any way obligated them to hire you that's another story, but companies usually don't do this.

You can discuss it with a good attorney, and it's remotely possible you may have some recourse, depending on what if any obligations the company may have made to you, but they usually don't do that.

Best thing to do is look for another job. If they made you an offer you are probably pretty well qualified.
