Then why are we all here? Does this help?

This reminds me of the time a buddy of mine, online, from Tokyo, actually *told me* the Answer to that question:

What is the sound of One Hand Clapping?

The answer is *non* sound. Meaning *nothing happens* when one hand tries to clap.

That's the point I think. The answer to life, people, everything, may very well "lie within" but if you don't have other people or *some sort of context* with which to make sense of it all....then how do you know your "answer" is an answer and not just some delusion or flight of fancy?

You don't. In order to check and make sure anything makes sense, you first have to get it *out of your head* and speak it to someone. Get it out into the real world where there's a risk that others will look on your "answer" and comment, and believe you wrong.

Last I heard, it was called a "reality check" or some such, but yeah. People need each other, if only as *sounding boards*, as sources of answers to that perennial question: Does this make sense? (or Am I making sense here?)

I hope this helps....thanks for your time! :)

(and I am not entirely sure Yahoo Answers is always helpful, but you know what, sometimes you do things because "it beats nothing" and well.....this is what I do to try to keep my mind halfway sharp so it doesn't *totally go Blah* and vegetate, you know?)

why do we ask?

we ask to know. because we want to know and then do. rather than do in influence of dogma, belief, or fear. only after knowing we can do freely.

what do we ask?

the basic questions are - why everything is, and how everything is. Why questions are related with purpose of that thing. How questions are related with that thing's interrelationships with others. All other questions are within subsets of these.

Do these answers lie within?

yes. the answers to basic questions lie within. they are answered with experiencing the existence. when we experience the existence as it is - then all questions related to why and how get answered.

Then how do asking to others help?

One who has experienced the existence, can provide the clues for others for experiencing it. Everyone uses imagination/conceptualization and free-will arriving at the experience of existence. In this sense - the clues that we receive from others help. How and when a clue will provide the pieces of the puzzle for us - is a matter of happy coincidence! Hope this helps!

So often in life, the most puzzling answers have been right in front of me. It's more a matter of allowing my mind to see what is within me and around me. Meditation; allowing the universe to drift into my mind and soul with the answers. It is a very quiet method, and it works. Life is a journey, not a destination, and this is part of it. Good point to ponder!
