I'm kind of in the same boat as you right now! I haven't smoked since moving from HI to WA about 5 months ago simply because I don't know anyone in Washington. I was a pretty heavy smoker, at least a joint a day. The thing is, it never became a problem for me. Kept a good paying job, a great girlfriend and a good family life. My advise is to stay clean if smoking pot ever caused major life problems. If not, GO AHEAD and toke it up man! It feels okay being clean for a few months but I'd smoke in moderation if given the opportunity!

It does not sound like you will ever be able to smoke in moderation, without the negative consequences that come with a toke or two with you. So, you have two choices:
1) Let your old friend know your situation & current temptation, and see if she will respect your sobriety, by not leading you into temptation, and just enjoy the renewed relationship.
OR
2) Go ahead and smoke to your heart's content, and let that downhill slide in life start once again, so that next time you face this situation (after some clean time) you will have a better idea of why you must stay away from that stuff at all costs, and won't have to write Yahoo to get the answers you need...you'll already KNOW!

Hmm ... well, I used to smoke a lot too. A LOT. When I did my parents didn't know about it, and around my 17th birthday in January I told them I had been smoking, they were cool with me telling them, and I just sorta lost interest in smoking when my parents knew. I guess doing something I shouldn't have added fun to it. I went to a TOOL concert in early September, there were like 50 joints going around in my crowd, so I couldn't help but take 2 hits. And after that, I never did feel the urge to smoke any again. So I think if you're seeing your friend for just a short time, tell her your situation, she may respect it. You could try smoking it a little with your friend, but only if you're only seeing her for a short time, as in just smoke for the occasion. But if you hang out with her a lot, that might be a problem. You should just tell her your problem.

You smoking a joint here or there is no different than having 6 beer on the weekend. If you want to smoke dope smoke it...I do! Trust me, after being sober for 5 months all you'll need is a couple puffs and you'll be buzzin anyways.

don't go. i feel the same way when i want to start drinking again, and i've found that the best way to stop myself is just to not be around that kind of temptation.
the reason why it sounds so good is because you are completely abstaining from it, and the period right after you abstain is the worst. you may never want to stop smoking, but if you want to keep in control of your life, you just have to let those ways of thinking go. just let it go.

You could just do it, i mean you quit before so how much of a problem could you of had? or tell her that you think your getting sick and you don't want to so you don't want to smoke just incase, or just say "hey i quit" and if she keeps trying to get you to just really say, nah i quit.

Be true to yourself, don't just go along with others and then go home and realize you compromised yourself! If they were your "friends" they would say "hey you made it this far! don't let me be the one to discourage your will power!" You shouldn't let anything over rule your commitment to self control. Pray for strength God will give it.

best to leave it alone-it only takes a spark to get a fire going-if you don't have the will to resist, ask her not to use around you; maybe you could suggest she quit and be a good role model for her children...
